Sketchbook

Started playing with watercolor washes today — trying to get that loose, organic feel without overworking it. The fish studies came out better than expected. There's something about letting the water do what it wants that's hard to learn but really satisfying once it clicks. I tried four different approaches here: wet on wet for the background wash, dry brush for texture detail, layering for depth, and a quick gesture study just to loosen up. The gesture one is probably my favorite even though it took the least time. Sometimes the quick ones are the honest ones.

Ink dragons today. No pencil underdrawing, just straight to pen which is terrifying and also the only way I learn anything. The mistakes stay. That's the point.

The bottle creature concept finally clicked today. I've been trying to figure out what lives inside these little vessels for weeks — and it turns out the answer was just to draw smaller. Tiny eyes peering out. That's it. Sometimes it's that simple and you spend three weeks not seeing it.
